Feature Stories
Familiar Ground on Foreign Soil
My creativity and initiative is best displayed through documenting the University of Alabama’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes trip to Costa Rica. I initiated attending the spring break trip, and captured video of athletes from various University of Alabama sports. I independently raised every dollar for travel, but the trip opened up numerous doors for me to grow in reporting. My footage aired on the SEC Network, TideTV This Week, rolltide.com, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes homepage. In this package I featured Quincey Gary's experience by editing together footage, interviews, and creative standup I shot myself.
Shut Out Human Trafficking
Jenn Parker, a University of Alabama rower, encourages students to seek social justice during the school's "Shout Out Human Trafficking" event.
Confidence Found in Costa Rica
Taylor Morgan, a freshman midfielder for the Alabama Crimson Tide soccer team, is one of Coach Wes Hart's most effective offensive weapons but before Morgan took a step on a collegiate playing field, she found herself already making contributions with Alabama athletics overseas. Like Quincey's feature package, I used the footage I shot in Costa Rica to create this piece.
Peers and Politics
First time voters at the University of Alabama made sure they would be prepared for the 2016 election by holding a discussion group to examine presidential candidates.
